Jennifer Pozner is a media critic, author, and Founder and Executive Director of Women In Media & News (WIMN), a NY-based media analysis, education and advocacy group. Her first book, Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth About Guilty Pleasure TV, was called “required reading for every American girl and woman” by MNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, while “The Colbert Report” writer Cecilia Lederer described it as a “F*cking amazing book!!!... insightful, funny, fun.” Her work has been published in Newsweek, Ms. magazine, Elle Canada, Newsday, Chicago Tribune, The Daily Beast, Salon, AlterNet and Women’s Enews, among other print and online news outlets.
Jennifer has served as an advisor and featured analyst for several films, most recently the award-winning OWN documentary Miss Representation. She has offered media analysis on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Fox News, GRITtv, Free Speech TV, National Public Radio, and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” And, because she’s a sucker for punishment, she’s gone head to head with some of the most blustery boys of cable news, including Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough. (Don’t ask her to diagnose you, though she plays a doctor in the satirical media literacy webisode series, “Reality Rehab with Dr. Jenn.”)
An internationally recognized leader in both the media and women’s rights sectors, Jennifer was honored as one of the New Leaders Council “40 Under 40” progressive leaders in America. She has spoken about gender, race and class in the media at more than 100 colleges and conferences across the U.S., Canada and Turkey, and has presented her work at the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Museum. Forbes named @jennpozner one of “20 Inspiring Women To Follow On Twitter” and Biz Tech Day named her one of “25 Influential Business Women in New York City You Should Follow On Twitter.”
